Facebook is a powerful marketing tool these days for any small business. A good presence on this social media giant helps you engage with potential customers and grow your business.

Having a Facebook page can legitimise your business in the eyes of the customer, in fact, a business without a Facebook page could come across as outdated, which is the last thing you want.

So where do you start, how do you go about creating the ideal Facebook business page?  We’ve come up with some handy tips to help you, so let’s gets started:

  1. Creating a business page

Firstly,  you will need to go to Facebook and create a business page.  It is similar to your personal profile but for your business instead.

Once you get started you will see their many options to customise information about your business. You should make sure you put as much as you possibly can into this including all the contact information the customer will need, making sure to include your website, business hours, details of your products or services.

Make sure you add a good profile picture and cover photo that reflect what your business is and what it does.

  1. Posting on Facebook

So, you now have a snazzy new business profile, what’s next I hear you say.

Start posting on this business page, no point having one otherwise and you must post regularly, by that we mean more than once a month.

You should aim to be posting at least once a day, so post as much as you can, but remember it’s not just about how often you post, its also about the content.

Your content must be of good quality and relevant to your business products or services.

Posting good regular content allows your audience and customers to feel like they know you and your business.

The kind of things you should be posting is behind the scene information and photos of you and your employees that show off your products and services.

This gives you transparency and shows you are passionate and committed about what you do, again giving the customer a sense of trustworthiness and belief in your product and service which is what it’s all about these days.

Posting the odd personal picture of you out and about, your hobbies and photos of your pets will always serve you well on social media and who doesn’t love a good pet picture.

These kinds of posts make you more human and approachable to potential customers and again this all helps with the customer feeling like they know you and want to invest in what you are doing.

  1. Friends and Followers

We all know that if our friends have tried something we are more likely to try it too so make sure you ask all your friends on your personal profile to like and share your page.

Social media is fast becoming, if not already, the new word of mouth.

The more confident you become with your business page, you can get more creative with it, posting live feeds and videos, Facebook love this kind of engagement and so do all other social media platforms.

You can create a little buzz about your business with special events, limited promotions inviting your followers to take part, who can then invite their friends and so on.

  1. Engaging your fans

Facebook favours posts and pages that create engagement.  Before posting anything on your page, ask yourself if it will create a conversation.

Don’t forget Facebook is a social media platform so you must be social.

You must engage with your customers by responding to their comments and questions.  Use it to get to know your customers, it is what is expected of you.

Keep your posts friendly and conversational rather than the cold hard sell.

  1. Promote your page

You’ve been busy posting like crazy putting the hours in to create quality content. Don’t forget to promote all this hard work as there’s no point doing all this if no one is going to see it.

Make sure you add a link to your Facebook page from your website, business cards, email, and any other marketing tools that you produce.

Encourage your followers and friends to share your posts and consider  boosting your posts this way you can reach an extended audience beyond those that follow or like your page.

We hope you have enjoyed reading through these tips and they have helped you in some way.
